ZYNGA (2011-2014)

ZYNGA SLOTS (2011-2014)

A smaller startup I joined after Buffalo was acquired by Zynga in 2011. I started as a principal artist managing outsource and helping with UI and became an art director there shortly after. Our team focused primarily on social casino games like Zynga Bingo and Zynga Slots and eventually shifted to mobile games in 2013 with Riches of Olympus.

Above are a couple versions of the Zynga Slots logo I worked up while we got the name of the IP approved by legal. We originally wanted the title “Epic” but we were advised against that name.

The layout gives away that we were still deep in the gold rush of Facebook gaming. The idea was that a player would venture forward on a trail with every spin, discovering collection items and other extra prizes along the way. I managed 2-3 different outsource houses, producing logos, characters, custom UI, and collection items for every theme. It was a fun game to work on simply for the visual variety.

RICHES OF OLYMPUS (2014)

This represents Zynga Austins’s first foray into mobile casino games and represented the closure of Facebook gaming to the team. We targeted a game model that tried to quickly release a project within 6-9 months. I assisted with logo design, UI, and outsource management but left the team shortly after. A few iterations later the team hit notable success combining the engine with well-known trademarks and released Wizard of Oz Slots.
